Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health

Within the past two decades following the launch of the millennium development agenda in line with the National Health sector development plan, the world including our country saw significant progress in maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health. Despite the progress made, developing countries still face numerous socio-economic difficulties and an unfavorable economic environment. Ending extreme poverty, promoting development and resilience and attaining all the sustainable development goals in Africa will depend mainly on the attainment of the aspirations of Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want” and the well-being and survival of women, newborns, children and adolescents.

The Continental Policy Framework on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the Maputo Plan of Action 2016 -2030, are key instruments for Africa to achieve these. In addition, solidifying the gains made and focusing the continent’s efforts towards ending preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths within a development context will depend on the use of an Accelerated Reduction of Maternal, Newborn and Child Mortality strategies in Africa, which serves as a critical advocacy platform. Based this all needs, the FGAE has contributed towards addressing the national demand of MNCH related program in the country. FGAE program focused related to MNCH are FP, ANC, Institutional Delivery, PNC, CAC, EPI, STI , HIV/AIDS testing and counseling service, SRH counseling and PMTCT which is provided in different Service out let modalities.

In addition, FGAE focused on provision of specialized SRH service such as cervical cancer screening and treatment, Infertility Care, Gynecological care including Non SRH medical care to the women and children. FGAE is provided an integrated key SRH service through 448 Family Health Network clinics.
