Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia has organized a progress monitoring filed visit

Ever inspired by its current vision that ‘’every individual and family in Ethiopia are empowered to enjoy SRH rights’’, FGAE has continued to deliver dedicated services. Indeed, its mission encompasses enhancing access to quality integrated and gender responsive SRH services including family planning, AYSRH services, HIV/AIDS and STIs prevention, MNCH care, early Cervical Cancer screening and  management as well as medical services. Services are commonly availed through four kinds of delivery outlets including, its own SRH clinics which are strategically located, social franchised Private Health facilities (branded as Family Health Networks), selected Public Health facilities as well as work place clinics and mega project sites. In wherever setting, FGAE is striving to contribute to the national effort to improving health and wellbeing; all within the framework of the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia

In collaboration with such SRHR organizations as Engender Health, Cordaid, and Amref-Health Africa, the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia has organized a progress monitoring filed visit from May 19 to 22, 2024.  This high level joint visit occurred in Jima Zone of Oromiya National Regional State where various projects exist to operate with the investment of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN). The very aim of the visit was aimed at getting first-hand information and witness any tangible progresses in the SRHR interventions implemented by the respective partner organizations.

EKN (the funding agency), WHO, FMOH, as well as key sectors from regional bureau and Jima Zone department of  Oromiya have taken part during the visit. The South-West Area of the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia accordingly has hosted the visit escorted by the Association’s President,  Vice- President, Chairperson of the Branch Advisory Committee, the Executive Director of the Association as well as the Area Office management. Once completing their round of visits in the SRH clinics and Family Health Networks of the South-West branch, the partners as well as the funding agency and public stakeholders have ascertained that FGAE is bestowed with a great deal of excellence in SRHR programming and eventually recommended it to lead joint partners’ experience sharing visits in the future. With no doubt, the joint visit has been an opportunity for onsite learning and exciting movement of demonstration and discussion of projects for an enhanced collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Present in the event were: Paula Schindeler, Deputy Head of Mission / Head of Development Cooperation, and Frank van de Looij, First Secretary Health both from EKN.
