Adolescent and Youth SRH Evidence Dissemination and Advocacy Forum

At its 58th years, FGAE conducted Media Advocacy Forum focusing on Youth
Advocacy Forum: The morning up to noon was dedicated to the Forum under the theme of “Breaking Barriers, Empowering Youth: Evidence to enhance AYSRH….” In this dissemination workshop, the first of its kind in FGAE, six oral presentations (best practices, a program model and scientific research) and seven posters were presented by delegates of the MoH and UNFPA as well as staff of FGAE. Also, a 28-pages booklet consisting of abstracts and best practices was published as part of the platform. Presentations were moderated by Mrs. Mtsahte Aynekulu, AYH Program Specialist UNFPA country Office and Mrs. Bethelihem Taye, SRH Specialist of UNFPA within the MoH. Moreover, two young people (Yohannes and Eyerusalem) aired their testimonies and another young girl called Wuberist has impressed the audience by reading a poem she composed about humanity, cooperation, togetherness and compassion.

Following a welcoming speech by Dr. Berhan Demeke, President of FGAE, key note addresses were delivered by Mr. Frank van de Looij, First Secretary of Health at EKN, and Mrs. Yemisrach, Country Advisor of Packard Foundation. Dr Alemayehu Hunduma, acting Lead of FP, AYH and Maternal Health Executive Office of the MoH, made key note addresses. Ato Gebeyehu Mekonnen, the Vice President offered closing remarks where he underscores: We Pioneered, Succeeded and Moving Forward. The dissemination forum was attended by about 70 participants encompassing RH media journalists, delegates of CORHA, UNFPA senior staff, volunteers, staff, YAM and regional Advisory Board members.
