It also requires a broader policy advocacy on procurement issues, costing strategies, multi-sector coordination and contextual considerations. Over decades of operations, FGAE has accumulated lessons on different challenges emanating from mobilizing SRH commodities. Recent years have witnessed prevailing shortage of several types of supplies. Apparently, commodity needs increase with the outgrowing private and public health service delivery points of FGAE.
The commodity requirement across FGAE outlets, is estimated to be 100 million per annum. This forecasts in fact includes buffers for several months. The Association houses the Supplies and Logistics division staffed with qualified and experienced professionals. Functions of the unit among others include:
- Ensuring the availability of essential SRH commodities for uninterrupted supply of programs and delivery of services
- Demonstrating efficient, transparent and value for money oriented procurement system all over the Association.
- Availing standardized level of warehousing and logistics management information systems for efficient storage, distribution and utilization of commodities across FGAE
- Ascertaining availability of systematic asset acquisition, utilization and also exercise an effective reverse logistic management in the Association.
