The Monitoring Evaluation &Knowledge Management Unit
Monitoring Evaluation and Knowledge Management Unit is both a recent and old unit in FGAE. It existed for more than five decades of the tenure of the Organization. A breakthrough change in the Association’s organogram in 2010 G.C resulted in the establishment of the unit as one entity by including knowledge management as part of its functional roles. The unit is configured under the Deputy Executive Director at the Head Quarter. Currently, it encompasses monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management and MIS/ICT team. In the Area Offices, the unit is represented by M&E and MIS/ICT focal persons under the direct supervision of the respective Area Office Managers. Such positioning of the unit is presumed to help actualize system functioning at operations level involving program interventions. The team undertakes the designing and application of ME&KM system, execute monitoring/tracking, lead and facilitate evaluation activities, establish and maintain technology/IT support functions. The unit’s endeavors are also tuned to evidence generation for decision making. Indeed, conducting operations research and other knowledge management activities boost evidence and enhance communities of practices in the SRH arena.
In an attempt to accomplish its functional roles and deliverables, the unit is progressively working on advancing technical capabilities of staff and automation of system. Advanced gadgets and equipment availed into system so as to deliver effective project tracking, measuring performance, expedite communication and feedbacks, improved internal capacity, timely documentation and dissemination of results to stakeholders. FGAE is cognizant of the fact that compatibility and comprehensiveness of working tools and systems must be in harmony with the dynamic national and international standards.
