MA-to-MA Exchange Visit Program was held from October 9 – 13, 2017 to FGAE in Ethiopia
Five Executive Directors (EDs) of IPPF’s Members Associations from Botswana, Malawi, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Namibia and South Sudan had made a five-day (Oct,9 – Oct, 13, 2017) ‘MA-to-MA Exchange Visit’ at Faamily Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE). The purpose of the visit was to advance ED’s performances in selected areas through experiential learning under the peer to peer approach and thus enhancing program quality and effectiveness in their esteemed countries. The visit was also intended to benefit the six EDs including FGAE through exchange of ideas, knowledge and good practices. It was also able to foster learning of Executive Directors (EDs) from their own unique experiences of their respected country’s contexts.
The program had several approaches such as power point presentations, site visits, question and answer discussions, observations, debriefing sessions and site visit to FGAE’s Clinics, Youth Center and Social Franchised Clinics in Adama, Bishoftu and Dukem towns in Oromiya Region, Model Clinic visit in Addis Ababa; and meeting with key FGAE’s partners.
Besides, the visitors had made prolific discussions with FGAE’s Executive Board of Directors, senior management team members and other prominent staffs. Generally, the program was a good arena for the visitors to take lessons from FGAE on the areas of Leadership, Management, Budgeting and Financial Management, Administrative Systems such as HR, Record Keeping, Information Management, issues around Programe Quality, Monitoring and Evaluation, Team and Skill Building for staff and volunteers, Resource Mobilization Techniques, Policy Engagement and Partnership and Networking. On the other hand, FGAE has also learnt a lot from the five Member Associations from their shared experiences and positive feedback forwarded at the completion of the program.
