
FGAE launched the Women Integrated Sexual Health Project (WISH2) at the regional level in Tigray on June 7, 2025, at Amidian Hotel, Mekelle. The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Tigray Regional Health Bureau, regional signatory bodies, media participants from Tigray TV, zonal health officials from implementation zones, Woreda health education offices, Person with disability organization, and delegates from Woreda health and women’s social affairs offices.
FGAE President Dr. Birhan Demeke opened the workshop with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the collaborative spirit behind the initiative. She reflected on past achievements, recognized the ongoing work, and reaffirmed FGAE’s commitment to promoting dignity, choice, and well-being—particularly for women and girls. In alignment with the Ministry of Health’s policy framework, the initiative is driven by collective expertise, advocacy, and swift action to strengthen and advance the national healthcare system.



The event featured presentations on the project’s implementation strategy, along with keynote addresses from MoH representative Mr. Motuma Bekele and Tigray Regional Bureau Head Dr. Amanuel Hailu. Their speeches reinforced the initiative’s significance in addressing women’s health concerns and its alignment with both national and regional priorities. Additionally, Tigray Regional Health RMNCH Team Leader G/Hawaria G/Kirstos outlined key regional priorities and challenges.
WISH2 aims to improve access to integrated sexual and reproductive health services, enhance health outcomes, and strengthen existing partnerships for lasting impact. The participation of representatives from various administrative levels highlights a collective commitment to ensuring the project’s success across the implementation sites.
