Ambassadors, diplomats, and UNFPA Ethiopia Delegates visit and applaud FGAE’s Model Youth Center in the Southern Area office at Hawassa.

Ambassadors and high-ranking diplomates from various embassies, along with the Head and Deputy Head of UNFPA Ethiopia, embarked on a visit to the Model Youth Center in Hawssa, hosted by the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia’s (FGAE) Southern Area Office (SAO).

The delegates were Embassy of Australia (Deputy Head of Mission Country Director), Embassy of Canada (First Secretary, Global Affairs to Ethiopia), Embassy of Denmark (First Secretary/Bilateral Affairs), KOICA Ethiopia Office (Deputy Country Director/Gender Specialist), Embassy of Spain (Deputy Head of Cooperation/Senior Program Manager), and Embassy of Sweden (Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti, Permanent Representative to AU, IGAD, and UNECA, and First Secretary).

The visit commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mrs. Kidist Temesgen, Chairperson of the SAO Advisory Board, accompanied by Youth Meron Ermias, Deputy Chairperson of the Wise Youth Action Movement for Health (WYAMH), and Ato Gashahun Gebre, SAO Area Manager. Their words emphasized the importance of youth empowerment and community engagement.

In an exciting showcase of talent and creativity, the youths of the center presented a dynamic talent show, leaving the distinguished guests thoroughly impressed. Following this captivating performance, the honored guests had the opportunity to interact with representatives from various youth clubs of the model youth center, engaging in fruitful discussions about their initiatives and aspirations.

Reflecting on their visit, His Excellency the Ambassador of Sweden, alongside other diplomats, expressed admiration for the outstanding work being done at the youth center and were particularly impressed by the vibrant demonstration of youth talent and dedication.

The visit not only highlighted the invaluable contributions of FGAE’s Southern Area Office to adolescent and youth development but also underscored the importance of collaboration between local communities and international partners in fostering positive change and opportunities for adolescent and young people.
