The Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), with financial support from the Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA), convened a High-Level Parliamentary Advocacy Meeting with Members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives on December 31, 2025, at Tike Resort, Bishoftu. The meeting aimed to strengthen Adolescent and Youth Health (AYH) services and promote integration of the Minimum Service Package (MSP) in workplaces. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Birhan Demeke, President and Chairperson of the FGAE Board, followed by remarks from H.E. Hon. W/o Worksemu Mamo, Chairperson of the Health, Social Development, Culture and Sport Affairs Standing Committee, and the official opening speech by H.E. Hon. W/o Lomi Bedo, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives.
The event brought together Negeri Lencho, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Employment, and Technology Affairs, and more than 66 Members of Parliament, highlighting the national importance of workplace AYH. Technical presentations were delivered by Dr. Alemayehu Hunduma of the Ministry of Health and Ato Gashaw Kebede of FGAE, followed by discussions on parliamentary roles in policy, oversight, and budgeting for workplace AYH.
















Following the meeting, MPs conducted a field visit to Joy Tech PLC horticulture farm near Bishoftu to observe DFPA-supported workplace AYH services. The visit reinforced commitments to scale up and sustain workplace AYH, strengthen MSP implementation, and enhance coordinated parliamentary oversight.
