The course will equip Trainees here will with Adult principles, other teaching methods, materials and facilitation skills of basic trainings. The session is dominated by a simulated teaching demonstration, hands on practice using models mentorship and observation skills in the demonstration and practices.

Course Description

Course Description

This is training on permanent method for women who have decided to bear no more children. The two weeks course will enable trainees to acquire adequate knowledge and skill on Tubal Ligation under local anesthesia. Half of the sessions are theoretical in a classroom while the other half sessions are practical in one of the Model Clinics of FGAE.

Course Description

The course focuses on updating knowledge; acquiring practical skills on screening of women in early/inactive labor or I/R IUCD/PPIUCD as a trainer and competent service provider. Trainees here will be equipped with Adult principles and facilitation skills of basic trainings. The session is dominated by a simulated teaching demonstration, hand one practice on models and competency observation in the demonstration on PPFP follow-up at 4 to 6 weeks. Throughout the course, the facilitator will use different approaches and employ adult principles of Learning and other Teaching methods.

Course Description

This clinical skills course is designed to prepare qualified health service providers (primarily maternal newborn and child health (MNCH) providers [e.g. midwives, nurse midwives, doctors] and other clinician) who are capable of delivering high quality PPFP services to women beginning with counseling when they are pregnant (ideally) and continuing through their first PPFP follow-up at a 4 to 6 weeks.

Course Benefit

By the end of the training, the participant will be able to:

• State pregnancies and the benefits of PPFP;
• Explain basic information about the IUCD (interval4 and postpartum):its effectiveness, safety, mechanism of action, advantages and limitations, and other general attributes; and the medical eligibility criteria ;
• Demonstrate appropriate counseling and assessment of antenatal women for PPFP in general and the PPIUCD in particular and screening of women in early/inactive labor or the early postpartum period for insertion of the IUCD.
• Perform post-placental insertion of the IUCD (with forceps and manually) and intra-cesarean insertion of the IUCD.

This Implanon® Sub-dermal Implant training curriculum is a skill-based clinical training course designed to train health extension workers who will perform Implanon® insertions at their service sites. This course emphasizes on the information needed to provide safe and effective Implanon® services and provides extensive practice time for skills building.

By the end of the training, the participant will be able to:

• Articulate the benefits and rationale of Family Planning use
• Counsel and screen clients requesting Implanon® and determine whether further medical evaluation is needed
• Use recommended infection prevention practices that minimize post insertion infection and transmission of diseases
• Provide follow-up management of the client with implanon® including quality Implanon® services, appropriate management of side effects and complications, referral when removal and other health problems is requested

This clinical training course is designed to prepare participants to manage obstetric emergencies and work effectively as members of a BEmONC team.
