HPV (human papillomavirus virus) is a very common infection. Most people will have it at some point in their lives. In many cases it clears on its own, but some types of HPV can cause changes that may lead to cervical cancer if not detected and treated early. Through a Pap smear (also called a Pap test), a simple, quick screening that helps detect early changes in the cervix, as well as presence of HPV, catching these changes early can help prevent cervical cancer and identify any need for early treatments.

What are our cervical screening services?
Our experienced service providers are available to provide both HPV testing and regular, routine Pap tests as part of your cervical screening options. Where our providers detect something which requires further treatment, we will remain with you to discuss your options and tailor the best treatment for your health.
Pap smear/Pap test
A Pap smear is a safe and routine test where a healthcare provider gently collects cells from your cervix. These cells are then examined for any changes that might lead to cervical cancer. It’s one of the most effective ways to protect your reproductive health. Prevention is better than cure, pap smears can detect changes long before they become cancer. Women and people with a cervix aged 21–65 years are encouraged to have cervical testing— Pap smears and/or HPV testing.
HPV testing
HPV testing checks for high-risk types of the human papillomavirus virus that can cause cervical health problems. It’s a simple, quick, and confidential test. HPV testing is recommended for people with a cervix, usually starting from age 25 (or earlier if advised by a healthcare provider). Your clinic can guide you on the right time to test.

How often should you have a Pap smear or HPV test?
How often you need an HPV test depends on your age, health history, and local guidelines. In most cases, testing every 3–5 years is recommended. Your clinic will give you advice tailored to you. Testing is usually not painful, though it may feel a little uncomfortable for a few moments. Our trained healthcare staff will make sure you are comfortable throughout.
